The educational food preparation workstation and manual.
Designer Nick Shute.
Outlining the product and its intentions,
'Learning to eat healthy has become a major issue in our society in order to tackle growing levels of obesity in young children.
This has resulted in recent goverment changes making healthy food education compulsory on the school curriculum.
However this strategy has yet to be carried out effectively in primary schools up and down the country because of two main issues affecting how it is taught.'
1. Appropriate facilities in schools
2. The teachers confidence in delivering the lesson
The food preparation workstation and instruction manual proposal would help to solve both of these issues.
It would provide 5-7 year old students with furniture that meets the specific task of food preparation at the appropriate height for them to use.
It gives teachers who aren't sure what approach to take, a lesson and activity guideline for the children to follow.
