New Illustrations

I have taken on board the feedback and redesigned the illustrations for the sections Nick wanted changing, the main image for the section 'food hygiene' i have got rid of the safety gear Doughy Joey was wearing and added an apron, i have kept it simple and clean.

For the section washing up utensils i have changed the illustration from just having utensils in bubbles and soap to illustrating Doughy Joey actually showing how to do this, i feel this is a much stronger illustration that the previous.

For the wash hands section i have also used Doughy Joey showing how you wash your hands, a big smile and bubbles, hopefully something the children will take a liking to.

Putting away utensils, for this section i have placed a few utensils into Joeys hand, keeping it very simple not trying to add to much within the illustration.

The chop and peel section i had previously created was doughy joey chopping some food by karate kicking and wearing a headband, i had illustrated this initially because i thought having a knife in the illustration may have been dangerous, Nick has asked for this to be shown so i have illustrated him chopping an orange.

I have passed these onto Sara or is making the packaging for the cue cards. Sara has laid out the illustrations onto the box and cards. These will be printed and laminated tomorrow so they can be given to Nick and me and Sara can photograph the final product and begin laying out presentation boards.

Feedback Evaluation

Sara met with Nick with the mock up cards i had made and she received some feedback on the changes he wants made.

-The food safety section has to be changed to 'Food Hygiene'.
-The food safety character needs to change he is know irrelevant.
-The colours need to be changed to yellow, green and a darker blue.
-The illustration 'wash hands' needs to show hands doing this.
-The illustration 'chop/peel food' needs to show hands doing this.
-The typography has to be in lower case as the children have not yet learned capital letters.

I feel that the illustrations of wash hands was weak and did needed improving, the change of the section did push back time as 'food safety' was the information i was asked to illustrate for, however i will work on the redesign of the illustrations and hopefully the outcome will be a stronger one and make the characters more appealing a understanding for the children.

Development

I have given the cue cards a frame to add more colour. I have laid out all the illustrations within these frames so i can print them out and cut into the individual cards, these will be shown to Nick for feedback.

Development

These are the developed front cue cards, i will be printing off these and the rest of the illustrations i have designed onto stock and laminating them to created a mock for a meeting later this week with Nick, so we'll see what feedback i will receive.

Food Theory development

I had previously added titles of the food groups within the triangle but it seemed to cramped and messy for a 5-7 year old to read, i will propose this and wait and see if it will have to change.

I am happy with the likes and dislikes section of the food theory, i keep it really simple and basic with just the two elements, happy and sad.

Prepare food development

I have added colour to the food doughy joey is juggling to make the image more engaging and eye catching for the children to look at.

For the cue card chop and peel i wanted to take a fun approach and have joey chopping some food with his hands like a karate kid! I did remove the slash marks i created as i felt they looked to like knifes, i did not want to place knifes in this illustration, i thought it might not be appropriate for children of that age.

Food safety development

I have added a chef hat to joey while he is dressed up in his safety gear but i don't feel it is working as well as when he is wearing his safety helmet, it just looks out of place.
